I just had a look over what was happening with Google’s Orkut which was one of the most popular social networks in India and Brazil. It seems like things have changed and it has lost its majority user base to the largest social network Facebook.According to Alexa Orkut is almost dead as compared to it was an year back. It has lost a massive number of users who previously used to keep visiting the website after every few minutes.
But still they are in the game, the website still receives millions of pageviews every day which is enormous and it is still one of the top rankings websites in the world. Also we have not seen Google placing more importance over its social network.

Facebook might have overtaken Orkut globally in terms of the number of users, but Google’s social networking offering still remains the favourite in India, according to the England-based online traffic tracking firm comScore.
Facebook may be the global leader in the sphere of social networking but when it comes to India, Google's Orkut overtakes Facebook, says a new study. As per the new study conducted by UK-based internet traffic tracking firm comScore titled 'Social Networking Habits Vary Considerably Across Asia-Pacific Markets', Orkut heads the popularity list of social networking sites in India.
Google has finally added one of the biggest omissions to the Web-based version of its Google Talk service: size limit-free, P2P file transfers.
Orkut Team has released an Android App for all the orkut fanatics out there. This Android App sports many features like: 1. Live Folders: You can now create a list of your favourite orkut friends.
