What happened to Orkut?

Posted in : Gossips

(added last year!)

With the emergence of social networking, it seems like Orkut has taken a back seat as Facebook gains immense global popularity attaining 500 million active users now. Facebook is now providing users the ability to integrate and link their accounts with Orkut. This will allow users to share updates, pictures, links and notes with others. Additionally, Facebook users will be able to find their Orkut friends on the site. This could be extremely fatal for Google’s social networking site as a user can now broadcast from Facebook and spend more time there while still connected to friends on Orkut.

Facebook’s growth rate has been much higher if compared to Orkut. It has gathered great recognition in India and users are always increasing. Only in Brazil, Orkut retains its lead. It has 29 million users compared to Facebook’s 9 million. But it is Facebook’s unstoppable growth rate that is taking social networking to another level. According to comScore, Facebook has grown by 479 percent in Brazil compared to 30 percent for Orkut last year.

Facebook’s Farmville now for the iPad!
Facebook’s applications are gathering steam all across the globe and the company is leaving no stone unturned to increase its bar further. So, if you’re an Apple iPad user and love playing games like Farmville on Facebook, you can do so using your trendy device. The game can now be played on iPhone and iPad. The FarmVille app version 1.09 is designed to integrate seamlessly on the iPad screen with high resolution graphics. In addition to this, it is stable and loads faster too.

With newer innovations, additions and features, Facebook has already proved itself in the social networking circuit. But with new trends being introduced all the time, the big question is whether Google’s Orkut will completely fade into oblivion?
